Welcome Parents and Students to George Cullender Kindergarten!!
We are excited you are with us this year! I know that the first day of school can be overwhelming so here are a few things that will help!
School Hours: 7:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Drop off Procedures:
Crosswalks are located on the North and South sides of the building. Please use the doors that are located on the North and South sides for entry into the school each morning. Please do not use or park in the bus lane. Please do not drop your student off in the front of the building unless you need to park and come in with your child. DOORS OPEN AT 7:30 a.m. If your child is dropped off after 7:50 a.m. you will need to come inside and sign them in.
The first day of school all students will report to class when arriving to the building. Parents please feel welcome to bring in and show them to their classroom! The cafeteria will be serving breakfast.
On the second day of school and for the rest of the year, students will report to the gym or to the cafeteria for breakfast when arriving at school. They will keep their backpacks with them.
Dismissal Procedures:
Pre-K morning busses will leave at 10:50 a.m. Pre-K morning classes will dismiss from South side door at 11:00 a.m. Please come in to pick up your child.
Busses will leave Cullender at 3:05 p.m.
If you are picking your child up after school, we will have a west bound DOUBLE lane pick-up line on 11th St. for all of kindergarten. We ask that you begin the line on 10th St. heading east towards Nelson St., rounding Rudy Park and then back west on 11th St. When going around Rudy Park please get close to the park so that you do not block the flow of traffic. Once you get on 11th St. you may pick a lane.
Cullender Staff will collect your parent pick up card and hand it to your child who will be inside the building. Your child will be walked to/loaded into your car. It will be your responsibility to ensure that your child is secured in their car seat. Please continue straight onto 11th when directed to leave the pick-up line. We will have a Cullender Staff member direct traffic when we confirm that all children are loaded safely in the car. We will use a thumbs up or thumbs down signal to confirm that your child is secured and ready to go. This line will take a couple of days to run smoothly but with your help we will create a smooth dismissal process.
Each child will be given an armband on the first day of school to help us with names, lunch, and dismissal. Please have your child leave them on until Friday.
